My wonderful friends, Bev and Barb, made a do-it-yourself quilt project for my birthday gift. At first I thought they had cut some pieces from their stashes and given me a bunch of squares to sew together. That would have been lovely, cause they have some great fabric. But what they had actually done was this. Barb appliqu├ęd a beautiful center square with 50 leaves forming a heart, while Bev pieced together a whole bunch of 5″ blocks. Then they had friends and family sign the blocks for me. Now I have to assemble the quilt. Here is a picture of it on my design wall. I’ve started sewing the blocks together from the center out, which is why there is a gap showing. I used fabrics from my stash to start cutting the setting triangles for the outside edges. I really like the on-point orientation. The three of us are getting together next weekend and I’m hoping to have most of it assembled by then. There are a few blocks that were sent to family which have not come back yet. I’m hoping they won’t take too long to mail back to me, cause I’m really anxious to get this finished. Any suggestions on how this should be quilted?
