I decided to it was time to clean up the studio. I mean really clean it! I’ve straightened up an area once in a while. Or cleared off the cutting table to make room so that I can cut fabric. But the disaster still persists. Now is the time to really get a handle on what is in there. I’m hoping I don’t find anything living in an undisturbed corner!!

The first step was making room for a bookcase that I’ve wanted to put in there for years. DH took care of that this afternoon. Now I need to fill up the shelves (in an organized way!) All the quilting and craft books need to go on the shelves together, so that I can find the book I want when I want it. I have a bunch of three ring binders to keep the must-have magazines in. I also have nice storage boxes to put on the shelves, to hold the bits and bobs.

While I’m going through everything, I need to weed out the stuff that I don’t need. (I’m not sure what those things could be – don’t I need everything that is in there?) Seriously, someone is going to benefit from all this cleaning out, cause I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff. Right now I can hardly move in there and it is almost impossible to actually work on anything. And let’s face it, I am NEVER going to use all that stuff!

One step I started some time ago but didn’t finish is going through all the magazines. In all reality, I am not going to make every quilt in every magazine that is in there. (unless I live to be 999 – and even then I’d really have to work hard!!) So I’m weeding out the magazines that don’t have projects that I really love. This is harder than you think it might be – I love so many different things! But I’m going to be firm with myself and think realistically.

Wish me luck!! If you don’t hear from me in a few days, send in a search party!!
