I’m linking up with Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday. Click HERE

So I decided to show my fabric stash today.

GULP!

Once I started taking pictures of it, I realized just what a ridiculous amount of fabric that I have!

The main area of fabric storage is the closet in the studio. It is 11.5 feet long and approx. 1.5 feet deep. It is hidden behind the design wall doors:

It makes it difficult to access fabric when I already have blocks on the design wall!

I’ve only opened one set of doors, so this is one third of the closet. I think you get the idea – there is a LOT of fabric in there!!

I’ve tried sorting by color but I always seem to get things all mixed up. I do try to keep all of the 30’s reproduction fabric grouped together on one of the shelves.

Next are the storage boxes:

These all have a mix of things – fabric, yarn, scraps, partial blocks and Lord knows what else!! During this time of organizing, I’m hoping to go through them and get them sorted out.

This cabinet houses the Civil War reproduction fabrics. All of the drawers are as stuffed full as the one I pulled out! I really should pull out the Civil War Diary book and finish the rest of the blocks!

On top of the cabinet are shoeboxes. If you look closely, some of them have labels. Those are the shoeboxes that I have been sorting my strips of fabric into: 1 1//2″. 2″, 2 1/2″, 3 1/2″ They are the sizes recommended in Bonnie Hunters scrap users system and they seem to work well for me. I also have two shoeboxes of 1″ strips, which I was using for my log cabin blocks – one for darks, one for lights. I will eventually have two boxes for each size of strips so that I can sort them into lights and darks.

That is pretty much all of my stash – I may have a few more pieces stashed in another closet, but I can’t really get to it now so I don’t have any photos.

I’m still cleaning out the bonus room. I have a car full of boxes that needs to go to the thrift shop and it is almost the end of the month, so I will have invoicing to do. I guess I better get to work!

Peace
