The weekend retreat at Piece House was a stunning success, IMHO (in my humble opinion!) Bev and Barb arrived Friday night and we got right to work on our projects. I had set up tables and chairs in the sitting room which is off to the side of the living room.

It worked for the three of us. I think for future retreats that may have more people, we will have to come up with a different set up. I’m thinking that this room is the best workroom, from a lighting standpoint – there are East, South and West facing windows, so there is sunlight all day. So the sitting room may become a dedicated work room and the love seats and other furniture will go somewhere else.

I used the treadle cabinet as a small cutting surface that worked fairly well for our purposes.

Here are two views of the living room. We used the floor to layout blocks and check our progress on the various projects. A design wall would be a great addition – I’m working on an idea for that.

I’m really pleased with how things are turning out in the Big House aka Piece House. I still don’t have everything necessary for a full retreat yet. But we managed to muddle through. The kitchen needs outfitted with practically everything – I had to make a few trips home to borrow some items that we couldn’t manage without. And using the house helped to point out a few things that need fixed before it can be available to the general public. All in all, we had a wonderful time and we got a LOT of sewing done!!!

I worked on two projects, even though I packed materials for five projects to play with!!!! Here is one of my double nine patch blocks for the homespun quilt I started. I am really loving it!!

Even though I was using a design floor instead of a design wall, I’m going to link up with Judy over at Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday. Click HERE
