Round Robin

This image is used as an example to give an idea of what a Round Robin quilt could be. I found the image on Pinterest and it linked back to 24 Blocks. Click HERE to go to their website. Unfortunately, it does not link directly with the above image.

Eleven members of my quilt group have taken on a challenge to make some Round Robin quilts. To those that don’t know what that means, here is a definition:

“First, a general description of a traditional round robin quilt for those who may not have heard of them. It’s a quilt that is made by a group of quilters and it’s a variation of doing friendship blocks. To start, everyone makes a block for the center. There can be all kinds of rules for size, color , theme, etc. The blocks are passed to someone else in the group. They add the first border. Then the next quilter adds the second. This usually continues until there are three borders that have been sewn by three different quilters. The quilter who made the center block then gets the quilt top back to keep and finish.”

Our group has very few rules to follow: We were able to start with any size center block in any style that we wanted. We could include extra fabric with the center block or not, as we saw fit, and we are making five exchanges over the course of the summer.

So far, we have done two exchanges. I was pretty lucky with the first block – I found what I thought was the perfect fabric to add a border to it. It only took me a few minutes to attach the four border strips and I was done. IMHO it turned out really cute.

On this second block I am having to stretch a little bit with the designing. This one is more of a challenge. I think I’ve got a really good idea, but it’s going to involve a more intricate solution.

I’m taking photos of each of the projects that I work on, but I can’t post anything right now. The final reveals won’t be until sometime at the end of the summer. Then I’ll be able to reveal what I’ve done with each of them.

Pink Secretary

In other news, I haven’t done much of anything in the studio yet. I meant to get a good start on it yesterday but then I got a call from my other “other” boss and had to go do some work for him. (How about I start calling them boss #1, boss #2 and boss #3? I’ll try to remember that from now on. Boss #1 is, of course, my darling hubby {DH}, Boss #2 will be the other boss whom I’ve been employed with for the past 15 years. Boss #3 is the latest other boss that I have just started working for this year.)

Somehow this doesn’t seem right – the closer I get to retirement age, the MORE I am working! Shouldn’t I be easing my way out of the working world!?!

Well, speaking of work, I have to get back to it. Boss #1 has really been cracking the whip lately and I have more work to get done for him today!!!

Peace
